Each Thursday night between eight and
ten, Shifty and Hefty aim to bring you the best in Indie/Alternative music,
top guests and the occasional competition.
Regular features of the show include
-
album of the week - three tracks from a new
or classic album that pass Shifty and Hefty's stringent Quality Control
process.
-
cover of the week - a well known band doing
an unusually good, bad or simply sublime cover version of something vaguely
famous.
-
single of the week - this week's guests are
given the opportunity to wrap their ears around five brand new 45s.
Together with Shifty and Hefty, they are required to mark each track out
of ten, giving extra points, if desired, for qualities such as loudness
or amusing lyrical puns. The single collecting most points will be
given the enviable accolade of Shifty and Hefty single of the week.
-
IAIN CRAWFORD ROCKS - a heavy mental track
of the large and noisy variety played in honour of any HM connoisseurs
who may be listening.
-
here's one that drew lent us - an absurdly
odd song is, each week, donated to the Shifty and Hefty show by Drew, a
fellow Isles fm DJ and collector of the obscure and odd ball. Strangely,
these records went largely unnoticed by the general record-buying public
- S and H wish to show them the error of their ways.
-
Alfie - Shifty and Hefty's computerised chum
whose incisive, witty and topical observations on life, love and music
nearly always raise a laugh.
